The Best Deserve Recognition!

J.GiangrandeWelcome to the 3rd Annual Best Companies for Women Red-Tie Awards & Gala!

When I started my company six years ago, I never set out to give awards.

As a career expert and coach, women often ask me “where are the best companies?” Initially I began sharing information I learned about companies from the women I meet during my coaching, workshops and speaking engagements.   Eventually I began reaching out to my network to obtain more information about companies who support, develop and advance women. Therefore, when I started a “Best Companies” list, it was just a way to share with women looking to join the best.

This list grew as I traveled speaking to thousands of women about their careers and businesses.  It became apparent that certain companies and organizations stood out from the rest and many women were saying similar things about them. It occurred to me that these companies may not know what women are saying and that they deserved to be recognized. I also wanted more women to learn about these companies and for them to share best practices. Thus, the birth of The Best Companies for Women Star Awards Red-Tie Gala.

When we look to recognize the best companies, we don’t ask organizations to tell us how great they are. Instead, we ask the community. Therefore, the Best Companies are derived from testimonials, feedback and nominations from women all over the Metro Detroit area. The Best Companies are not perfect.  In fact when we ask women to share, we’re seeking what companies are doing right, not wrong.  However don’t be fooled, this event isn’t just about awards. This is a night for celebrating the power of women and the companies and nonprofits that support, develop and advance them.

It’s exciting to celebrate with the stars! Congratulations to our 2014 Stars and the powerful women who work for them!
